DAIS for RDF

OGF DAIS-WG for RDF(S) Realization †

In OGF DAIS-WG, AIST is contributing to the work for setting RDF accessing standard based on WS-DAI specification. AIST proposed to have a Bof at GGF16 in Athens and AIST and UPM(Universidad Politecnica de Madrid) group of OntoGrid Project is now taking the initial leadership for this activity.

Scope and Goals

The following scope and goals are proposed to be included in the current DAIS-WG charter.

• Scope: Setting RDF access specifications (WS-DAI-RDF/Ont) based on the existing WS-DAI specifications, which are defined by the DAIS-WG.

• Goals: The following documents will be added to the current DAIS goals and milestones.

• DAIS for RDF(S) Realization Background and Motivational Scenarios:This document includes the background, motivational examples, and proposal for WS-DAI RDF Realization.

• Data Service Specification: RDF Querying: The document presents the WS-DAI specification for RDF Querying based on the set of W3C SPARQL specifications. This provides the query language function for RDF data.
  • Current version on gridforge

• Data Service Specification: RDF(S) Ontology Access: This document shows how the WS-DAI ontology is handled based on RDF(S). This specification supports various operations, including updates to the ontology.

• 2008.02 OGF22(Boston): Terms are Agreed.
• 2008.0 OGF21(Seattle):Updated documents, An Exective summary of the Querying Spec are presented.
• 2007.06 OGF20(Manchester): Initial version of "Glossary of Terms" is presented.
• 2007.02 OGF19(Chapell Hill,NC): 2 strawman specification documents are presented and discussed.
• 2006.09 OGF18(Washington DC): Motivational document is presented and discussed.
• 2006.06 Face-to-Face Meeting at Edinburgh: Charter is refined. Structure of the Motivational Doc is discussed.
• 2006.05 OGF17(Tokyo): Charter & Scope discussion.
• 2006.02 OGF16(Athens): BOF for DAIS-RDF. The activity is proposed.

Original Planned Schedules

• July 　　　2006: Informational Document for DAIS for RDF realization
• September 2006: First strawman documents for both specifications.
• March 　　2007: Initial draft of the WS-DAI-RDF/Ontology Specifications, which is consistent with WS-DAI and the OGSA data architecture.
• August 2007: Revised draft of the WS-DAI-RDF/Ontology specifications.
• March 2008: Final specifications, submitted as a recommendation
